On Sunday, my bestest gal pals and I (the Mopipaz if you will), attended the bridal shower of our mutual dear friend Tomei. We have all known each other since high school, though not all of us actually went to the same high school and none of us with the bride to be. None the less and none the matter, for the moral of the story is we are friends to this day.
This was the first time that my aforementioned gal pals and I had been all together at the same table as guests and enjoying a bridal shower for all its enjoyment, resulting in fun times all around. A lot of people think that bridal showers can be boring or cliché, but I’m happy to say that no friend of mine has ever had anything of the boring or cliché sort (and I would like to think mine was nothing of any kind of that sort either). I think nowadays, women get creative with their bridal showers and really embrace the fun of it all. Bridal showers are after all intended to be a special day with the close female friends and family that surround you – full of love and laughter.
And this past Sunday was definitely a day filled with love and laughter. We hooted and cackled and giggled and probably even snorted the day away. We bridal showered it up to say the least.
The theme was “A Very Merry Un-Bridal Shower”, in other words, an Alice in Wonderland themed fête. And the details definitely carried throughout:
More details and pics after the jump :)
A nice lil’ twist in the games was that instead of the standard tissue paper bride table game, it was the building of a house of cards, in homage to Alice in Wonderland naturally. Our table made a Disney "un-castle" complete with a queen and king of hearts atop it - fitting as the future bride and groom were engaged in front of Cinderella's castle in Disney World. We also had a presentation and song. It was embarrassingly wonderful. To my chagrin, we were not victorious in this game, however I do believe ours was the most “authentic” in that the structure consisted entirely of playing cards and nothing other. Just sayin’ :)
Competitiveness also ran amock with the centerpiece game, as the centerpiece was a beautiful Alice in Wonderland teapot, like GORGEOUS. My best friend and I are major Alice fans and it was a figurative battle to the death. The game consisted of a rhyming booklet that you had to pass around the table according to the rhyme. Towards the whole latter half the booklet was in my hands, I seemingly had it in the bag. But alas, I read ahead and realized that the final rhyme was to pass it to my right, or to my best friend Caroline. I proceeded to throw the booklet at her and exhibit the epitome of sore loser-ness. But if someone else had to win it, I'm glad it was her.
All in all the day was beautiful and a cheese (as in emotional cheese) filled sisterhood day. Rah-rah-sis-koom-bah!
