As you can see, it's been quite a while since my supposed weekly updates here in the home stretch. And that's precisely because it is the home stretch and well life is busy around these here parts.
ps - I can't really see my feet, I'm totally bending forward in this picture.
Anyhoo - Easter happened, nesting happened (and is still happening), Spring has sprung, I just finished working full time last week, the nursery is done enough to have a living inhabitant, and other general happenings.
I am less than a week until my due date and in total waiting game territory. A tad nerve-racking to say the least.
So here it goes. Recent (and clearly not so recent) pregnancy related happenings:
- I, in my infinite wisdom, decided to watch a birthing video. I think I saw one back in the day in phys-ed class for educational purposes, but Lord knows what I was thinking watching one while actually pregnant and so close to birthing myself. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I literally threw the iPad down on the couch and covered my eyes and screamed. Curiosity killed this cat.
- I had a hard time at work in the end. I was physically uncomfortable, exhausted, found it difficult physically fitting in the car to drive downtown, and was generally pretty miserable. Falling on my hands and knees on the ice in the parking lot, during the April freeze we've been having, didn't help matters either. I'm thankful the baby has given me this week (at least/so far) to have some pajama days and bed resting time.
- Thirsty might as well be my middle name lately. I guzzle water like its going out of style. This doesn't exactly help with the multiple trips to the washroom much, as it multiplies them even more. Also, when preggo you feel the need to pee ALL the time, but even with all that fluid when you actually go to relieve the urge, it's a trickle. It's just one of those HA HA preggo moments (that are not at all HA HA).
- I am VERY emotional at the end now, and that is not like me. I wasn't so much throughout the pregnancy, but now all the water I've been drinking leaves through my tear ducts I guess.
- Another place all the extra fluid is going in the last week or so is in the swelling of my hands and feet. I've been pretty lucky and haven't experienced this now until the bitter end, and it's not super noticeable. But it sucks. At night especially, when the water retention in my feet pools into my fingers and my knuckles throb with pain. I've had to remove my wedding rings too, which I didn't want to have to do. But better me removing them, than having them cut off due to my man hands syndrome.
So that's that. Who knows if there will be another preggo update? Beats me! I was worried the whole time about being early and looks like I might now have to shift gears into worrying about being late.
Either way, I'll never be "ready", I don't think there is such a thing for a first time mama.
I'm as ready as I'll ever be!
