Well, not EVER, but for a long while, until next season anyway. We'll see how many more of my friends get engaged in that time, I'm in that age group, it happens.
Anyhoo, this final bridal shower post on my MOH's bridal shower, has to do with the games of the day. We had some good ones I must say.
So here they are, breakin' it down:
ENTRANCE GAMES
Guess The Ingredient
5 clear jars were numbered and displayed with all white baking ingredients, including baking powder, flour, sugar, salt, and baking soda. Guests had to match the number to the corresponding baking ingredient. I originally thought this game would be quite difficult, though there were a lot of winners and we had to raffle for the prize!
Guess How Many
A jar of white chocolate chips was displayed and guest had to make their best guess as to how many chocolate chips were in the jar. The actual number was well over 6000 chocolate chips and there was one good guesser who was victorious.
Guess the $ Amount (Door Prize)
An arrangement of baking related items grouped together, where guests had to guess what they believed to be the actual retail value (the winner receiving the arrangement itself as the prize). The actual $ value was $52.74 and the items included a set of mixing bowls, a measuring cup, 2 wooden spoons, a whisk, a spatula, an oven mitt, and a magnet for the fridge with baking measurements and equivalents. (Confession - I wanted to win this too!) Here it is below.
TABLE GAMES
Apron Game
This game was my fave by far because it was a bit of a surprise attack on the guests. During the guests' arrival, the bridesmaids were all wearing aprons adorned with various kitchen and/or baking utensils, 4 per bridesmaid.
Purse Game
The next game we played, before the main course, was the age old classic, the hold on to your hats, the you guessed it, PURSE GAME.
We made it hardas well, had 40 items on the list, and the winning Pound Cake table came in with 29/40, not bad!
Considering the list: gum, mints, aspirin, notepad, lipstick (not lip gloss), receipt over 1 month old, sunglasses, nail file, nail clipper, hand sanitizer, floss, sewing kit, photo with you in it (not ID), flashlight, business card, photo ID, band-aid, tweezers, nail polish, cheque, points/loyalty card, pen, polysporin, bobby pin, pantyhose, american $, safety pin, hair elastic, agenda, recipe, gift card (not expired), a wedding picture, shower invitation, tums, $100 bill, passport, movie stub, 1985 penny (the year the bride was born), bottle of water
Bride + Groom Trivia Game
This game involved answering multiple choice or true or false questions regarding the bride and groom as a couple and individually. Each table had to pick a representative to stand and speak for their group, though they could all converse on the 'final answer'. If the question was answered incorrectly, they were out of the game and must sit down. The last table standing won.
The questions included such things as when and where the bride and groom got engaged, where they first met, what each loves most about the other, where they went to school, their favourite book, etc., you name it. We came prepared with approximately 75 questions just in case, but didn't make it nearly that far.
In any case, thought this was a great addition and definitely made for a few laughs and a lil get to know you for everyone.
Centerpiece Game
Last, but not least, was the centerpiece game. This game was a reading of a poem, which after each verse, a kitchen utensil was passed along, until it ended with the final person and winner of the centerpiece.
Here is the poem below:
So let’s get this game going, let’s not delay! Pass this poem to the lady with the closest birthday to today!
Soon Phil and Caroline will be tying the knot, I'm sure we'll see some tears. Which wife at the table has been married the most years?
September 8th is the day they will give each other a ring. Look and see which lady showcases the most BLING BLING!!
You're doing great! What a success! Pass this note to the girl with the most buttons on her dress.
That’s it, that’s all folks! I bet you didn’t think we’d make it! The centerpiece is yours, just don't forget to take it!!!
And well with that, was that. Peace out shower season, until we meet again.
