For my best friend's bridal shower, I offered to be the creative force behind the invitations. I had been wanting to play around design-wise for awhile and thought this the perfect excuse and/or opportunity. Also, when it comes to the bridal shower, you can get a little more fun and creative and theme-y (and I love me a good theme).
The theme of her bridal shower was an all white party, so obviously a whole lot of white would be incorporated into the invitations. However, the sub-theme was a 1950s baking/cooking feel. So I decided this would be best represented by a very girly pink sub-colour to the sub-theme.
The inspiration stemmed from this little pink lady logo I created and the whole look/feel was based on this. And, naturally, carried throughout the other printable materials of the bridal shower. Consistency, gotta love it.
Here is the front cover of the invitation, with a manipulated illustration of an old school looking lass from an old advertisement found online (a more realistic looking pink lady to the pink lady logo) and a poem ditty to let people know the theme of the day (and that they must, of course, wear white).
Below are some images of the flip side of the invitation with details. This side included the information needed to attend the day, with the pink lady logo front and center at the top. Icons were used for the where, when, RSVP, and gifts, with a bit of a retro feel. Also, an old cookbook image found online was used to anchor the text.
And if I do say so myself, they turned out splendidly. I am also now super excited to make invitations/cards/etc for everything and anything under the sun. Hello Christmas card season, eek!
