The theme was an all white party, so the décor and thematic elements centered around this. The sub-theme was a pinkish blend of suzie homemaker and baking/cooking fabulousness, with a 1950s-esque pink lady logo to tie everything in.
Happily so, most guests stuck to the colour theme in their wardrobes, with a few stuck-out-like-a-sore-thumb exceptions. But all in all, the venue was aglow with ladies in white. Including the bridesmaids leading by gorgeous example.
The bride, my best friend/family Caroline (circa 4 years old, a rare and blessed occurrence to have in life), was the only one not in white. As the poem ditty from the invitations stated: “On the wedding day the bride is the one in white, on the bridal shower, the guest will be the only white in sight!”.
The white elements of décor included white tissue paper pom poms (but of course), scattered white rose petals, tulle, white vase centerpieces with baby’s breath inside, the cake pops and cake, and the guests themselves.
The suzie homemaker touches all derived from the 1950s pink lady logo used on the invitations (the invitations by the by were designed by yours truly – more on them in another post). The pink lass was used on all the printable materials - the table names, menu cards, ballots for games, and favor and prize packaging. Also, the tables were all named after cakes: angel food cake, bundt cake, carrot cake, cheesecake, chocolate cake, coffee cake, fruitcake, ice cream cake, red velvet cake, pound cake. Mmmmmmmmm.
All in all, the afternoon went splendidly and lots of fun and feminine frolic was had. I was quite nervous and stressed about the whole thing going smoothly as I assumed the self-proclaimed responsibility as MOH to ensure that happened. And I’m happy to say it did. That being said, I’m also happy to say it’s over. Bada boom bada bing.
There's some more pics of the feminine frolic after the jump, if you like:
