6.5 is where it’s at. Which leaves me with 3.5 months to go (as you’re really technically pregnant for 10 months and not 9).
The time is flying and creeping by at the same time. In the same way, my belly continues to grow, yet feels kind of the same too. But it’s definitely there and I definitely am not in the “I don’t feel that pregnant” phase anymore.
For one thing, I literally FEEL it, feel the pressure. No one tells you that when you’re pregnant, it feels like there is a bowling ball sitting on your hoo-ha weighing it down and making it feel like someone kicked you where the sun don’t shine. So be fore-warned. When I told my OB about this, she just laughed and said it’s only going to get worse. Fun times. It has resulted in a waddle-limp hybrid.
But things change all the time in this whole pregnancy thing, because that was last week. This week that situation has improved as I try to keep myself moving and try to work out 2 times a week. "Try" being the operative word. Need to also get on the prenatal yoga train. Stretching and all that jazz.
Other things that no one really told me about, that I did not expect while expecting, or just highlights from the last lil bit:
- My leg hair stopped growing. Bonus on this one.
- My belly button is almost at pop out territory. I mean I heard that your belly button pops out, but it still surprised me with what it looks like. Currently it is flat and almost like I don’t have one, but when I laugh it pops in and out. It looks and feels extremely WEIRD. I'm sure it will only get weirder.
- Sometimes the Baby kicks so hard that it feels like it's right in my gut and takes me by surprise and I actually gasp out loud. It is definitely a weird-out feeling when your body has a mind of its own, because there is another lil body with a mind of its own inside of you.
- On that note, the Baby can feel like a lil alien that I am harbouring in my mothership, science fiction-like and everything. The first time the hubs and I saw (not just felt, but SAW) the baby kick we laughed so hard from being so weirded out (have I used the term "weird" enough or what?). I think that was when the pregnancy felt the most real. That sort of physical evidence you cannot deny.
- I have wanted a Kit Kat every day last week. And have had one. I have tried to curb this craving and replaced the sugar want with a sugary fruit instead (again "try" being the operative word). I'm not much of a sweet tooth, but I guess I can finally say I’ve had a craving this pregnancy. It’s chocolate and sugar. I've also relapsed a couple times with my past addiction to Coca Cola. Yum yum.
- That being said, one of the most common questions people ask me is what cravings I am having and expecting something weird like pickles and maple syrup or something. This is not a universal truth for every pregnant woman. I, for the most part, besides my Kit Kat affiliation of late, have eaten the same as beforehand. My only indulgence has been a cookies and milk snack as a post dinner dessert. So my child will have a pre-disposition to either hate or love chocolate chip cookies.
