Cake Pops and Barbie Cakes HOORAY!

For my MOH's recent bridal shower, I wanted to treat her eyes and stomach (and I guess her guests eyes and stomachs as well) to the main showpiece dessert. Cake pops are the cat's meow these days, so I decided that going with these would be fun, easy, and delicious for the day. Well they turned out beautifully, all nuzzled up to the all white theme and pink sub-theme. They were created by a baker extraordinaire (www.cupcakedesign.ca) and were definitely a visual as well as tasty hit.

The Barbie cake, on the other hand, was more of a sentimental gesture. When we were wee ones (as we've been friends since we were 4 years old), I used to have Barbie cakes for my birthday parties that my neighbour made. Well, I knew that Caroline always wanted one too, so I thought this was the perfect occasion for her to get her cake and eat it too - hardie har har.

Her Barbie cake, however, was not for a little girl's birthday party, but wearing a recreation of her soon-to-be-worn wedding dress. It came out très gorgeous and I think reminded us both of being little girls, reflective of now being not so little girls, and how far we've come separately and together in our lives and friendship. I'm beyond lucky to have someone in my life for such a long time, someone to have stuck around all those years. And this Barbie cake was a small way of me showing my grateful appreciation for that.
