So here are the results of my first-timer easter egg decorating eggstravaganza! Get it?! EGG-stravaganza!? Ha. Ha. Ha.
Anyhoo, I chose the Martha egg dying technique that involved using a second batch of dye with olive oil to create a “marbleized” egg. It turned out OK, not the greatest, and I made a colossal mess - I had severe mutant hands going on from the blue and green food colouring.
I ended up with not the best marbleized-ness, but got more of a splatter feel by playing around a little and getting creative. Ultimately, they ended up looking sort of like robin’s eggs to me, which I liked.
By the by, this was the beginning of my mutant hand deformation, it got much worse so that I couldn't even photograph it without contaminating my iphone. Lil tip - use dishwaser detergent to get it off (nothing else will work), it has just a lil bit of bleach in it, but still gentle enough that it won't fry your hands!
*On a side note, I realized today that I had these little white ceramic bunnies (leftover from my Alice in Wonderland themed bridal shower) that I could have used for some slight easter festiveness around the house, but I forgot about them entirely and they will now live another year without being used for really what is their only use!
