This whole having a kid concept (or reality rather) just gets trippier and trippier. Sometimes the love hits me like a ton of bricks (in the form of a squishy cuddly loveable huggable baby boy). I still can't believe he is mine. And ours. Of me, of us. And his own little person too. He's in this stage now where he has such a developing personality and he's so amazing that I often guffaw at his amazingness. Mamahood is one big awesome guffaw.
In Month 9:
- The combination of a sucktastic winter of coldness (therefore dryness) with a perpetual thumb sucker resulted in a raw thumb. Two raw thumbs actually, as he shows no preference for one or the other (whichever gets the job done). So raw that they bled at one point. His thumb(s) are his crack. While I once worshipped the almighty Thumb for its miraculous bestowment of all night sleep sessions (my standing theory on his too awesome for words hibernation habits), I realize that the Thumb may be a double-edged deity with a more loathsome side. Time will tell the depths of dependence.
- He responds in smiles and giggles and squeals. He is a happy-go-lucky kind of guy.
- Crawling began. His roll crawl finally transitioned to forward linear motion. At first it was as if he was in military combat, using his elbows to navigate through the trenches of his scattered shrapnel of toys. Eventually he became more efficient and mastered crawling on his hands and knees. There is no stopping him now.
- For some reason, around this time, he was very mama's boy clingy and didn't want to nap in his crib. So he would fall asleep on me on the couch. While highly inconvenient to remain motionless and breathless, it was pretty awesome to feel like this incessantly mobile boy of mine was an itty bitty babe again. Our breaths in tune. Heartbeat to heartbeat. Still. He's already outgrown this little phase, tear.
- After crawling was mastered, the standing up began. So many new skills in so little time. I can barely keep up with the awesomeness of him figuring it all out.
The love overfloweth (more and more every day) for Mister Leo.
