Easter Egg Attempt [Pt.1]

So this is my first married, in-my-own-home, Easter. I’ve been tending to get really cheesy and sentimental about all these “first” occasions with the hubby and like to full force get my decorate on, do the standard traditions, and do things that become our new little family traditions as well (our first Christmas was literally euphoric as it’s my most fave holiday).

Now, Easter for moi is more of a family time for getting together and also a very holy time coming from a Catholic faith. It’s not as flashy as Christmas is, not as much of an opportunity to exercise some holiday tradition clichés and be a poster child for cheery-filled cheese. Mostly because Easter decorating activities and tradition aspects are more linked to children and the Easter bunny and all that jazz. As I don’t have children, all the tradition-y decorating goodness in me will have to hibernate until then. For the most part anyway.

Because I still plan on decorating me some Easter eggs, these being something that can be loved and appreciated (and eaten) by all ages. I also really love hardboiled eggs myself, so why not eat pretty fanciful ones at Easter time?!

Exactly. Why not?

That being said, I have never actually made and/or decorated Easter eggs before on my own! It was always with an adult and the only effort I had to show was a creative and playful one. I’ve never even hardboiled an egg either. A married-in-my-own-home first, and a life first as well. Double whammy of firsts ‘tis.

Courtesy of Martha Stewart (her highness of homemaking), here is an egg tutorial on how to hard boil ‘em and another on how to beautify ‘em (in case anyone else out there is as clueless as me).

To be continued.
