So a nice lil' detail of the wedding day was that Meleny pinned the important men in her life with boutonnieres, her honorary brothers if you will. These men are the husbands or significant others to her bridesmaids, all of us whom she considers family. She wanted to honour that familyship by making them a part of her day, calling them out for their significance in her life.
One of the lucky pin-ees was my husband Rob. Meleny and Rob were actually friends long before I came into the picture and I became close to Meleny and her sisters through Rob. I know it was very special for him to be included in her day in this way and to be recognized as an honorary brother. They are the sisters he never had, just like he is the brother they never had either.
It also reminded me that we are all friends, but we are all family too. And we are all very blessed for it!
