The bridesmaid dresses were goddess-y, flow-y, boho-style gowns, that believe it or not were purchased online for a bargain price point. And as the bride would be the first to tell you, so was her wedding dress. Everything is “Made in China” these days, so we skipped the middle man and got it from the source. I was wholeheartedly against this undertaking in the beginning, in fact I thought it was downright crazy town, especially for the wedding dress, probably the most important clothing purchase to be made in a gal’s life. There were a multitude of disastrous scenarios possible. Thankfully, none of which came true. Caroline always has a way of finding a bargain, complete with a lucky horseshoe up her wazoo.
In the end, you would have no idea we all paid so little or that the dresses were purchased online. I’m pretty sure almost all of the bridesmaids (thanks to precise measurements) had no need for any alterations to be done, snug as a bug – which normally when purchasing a bridesmaid gown from a retailer by size (not made-to-order measurement) you will almost always have to do, incurring an added expense. The wedding dress did require some alterations, however even with those, the dress was a fraction of what the same dress was at retail, a very very small fraction.
But most importantly, everything (and everyone) looked beautiful. PS - photo above is our trying to be bad ass re-incarnation of the Bridesmaids movie pose. Bad ass indeed.
Side note, the fabric of the dresses dried quickly and wonderfully, as witnessed due to the torrential downpours on the wedding day, as well as a few of us stepping in cat spit up and doing a lil wash and blow dry action on those babies ;)
