Happy Gobble Gobble!
Today is Thanksgiving, but in my family we celebrate on the Sunday, so we are already all turkey-ed out. Therefore, today is a day of rest and a day not to have to go to work more than anything else. Yesterday was the day to be with family and be thankful for it, just to be in the presence of loved ones.
This Norman Rockwell print used to hang in my grandparent's house and I've now laid claim to it for my home. I love this print because it reminds me of being around the dining room table at holidays and stuffing our faces with tasty homemade food and filling our hearts with each other's laughter and love. It makes me appreciate (and be thankful but of course) for having a wonderfully close knit family as such an integral part of my life and memories, both on holidays and in the everyday.
Most of the childhood holiday memories are replaced with more adult ones now, as few of my cousins are little children anymore, not everyone is still at the table, everyone overall is older and it's not quite the same. But eventually, new generations will form too, and a different kind of sameness will form. The beauty in this print is that you can see whatever you want in it, and I see both the past and future. And I am equally thankful for both.
Happy Gobble Gobble to all!
