Recent Christmas happenings...

Christmas is shockingly in a mere matter of days. How it creeps up so fast every year is beyond me. Like the saying goes, the days are long, but the years are short. Anyhoo, we’ve definitely engaged in some pre-Christmas activities and traditions to build up to the grand event and fill up those long days (with more to come – our 2nd annual ugly Christmas sweater party this weekend what what)!

First off, we once again made the yearly trek up to Drysdales tree farm to cut down our own Christmas tree. And once again this year it was kind of lacking that Christmas feel. There was zero snow on the ground, literally zero. And it was raining and muddy. Fa la la la la.

But it was still a lot of fun, and good exercise walking those fields for preggo moi. It was also interesting as we offered to get trees for both my parents and the in-laws as well. Next year we’ll have the bambino with us to join on the tradition and evolve it to our family one. Can’t wait for that. I feel like one of the best parts of having a kid is Christmas time.

We also headed out to the Toronto Christmas Market in the Distillery District for the first time. I’ve been wanting to go every year since it began. It’s meant to have the feel of a European Christmas market. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I wasn’t super full of Christmas wonderment after going. I had a lot of fun, don’t get me wrong, but it was very cold and windy and there was again no snow and grey skies. The atmosphere was slightly lacking to my expectation. Oh and mulled wine is gross. Probably not a tradition in the making.

And finally we put up and decorated our Christmas tree, a little on the short side to past year’s trees. But still ours. And still a beauty. Self timer shots a thing of beauty too.

4 more sleeps until the big day!
