Month 4 | In Review (late late late)

The continuation of the month by month updates, currently on the way to approaching reality. Yay me!

This month, Month 4, is when I was all like "Hey! Having a baby is so much fun!". Because, well, it is. Especially when that baby loves to sleep as much as you do. Discovering the world can be exhausting, so naturally it requires a lot of rest and recuperation. He totally gets that sleep translates into growing and developing. It allows him his happiful days of exploration. Mister Leo gets this concept. He has grasped it with gusto! And I have learned to simultaneously cross all of my fingers and all of my toes (and then my limbs too), in hopes that he will continue his love for the sound and solid night time snooze.

Besides the 10-12 hour slumberfests, here's what I jotted down about Month numero 4:

  • He covers his eyes when he's nursing and it's the sweetest. The bond that has developed through breastfeeding is really a very special one. I am so grateful for the experience and the continued excuse to stare at my beautiful babe intently and with wonder. It's when he is most peaceful and is most my little baby boy.
  • When I come in to his room to get him in the morning after his nightly hibernation, he sees me and he smiles the biggest toothless grin that you ever did see. His eyes twinkle and he coos with happiness. For me, all for me. It sure does make a lady feel special and it's a hell of a great way to start your day, let me tell you. How did I get so lucky?
  • When he's laying on us or the couch or whatever else we prop him up against these days, he grunts and does an ab crunch trying to pull himself into a seated position. He's my macho man.
  • He rolled over for the first time, from back to tummy. And now it's his favourite thing to do. But then he sways back and forth on his bowl full of milk jelly, all flailing arms and legs and frustration, trying to get back. He hasn't quite gotten there yet though. So we're doing a lot of baby flipperoo's around here lately.
  • He's a tummy sleeper. Just like his Mama.
  • His farts stink. Like rotten eggs kinda stink action.
  • The evening hours are a symphony of squeals. Those lungs got some power behind them, they do. It's the perfect blend of super annoying and heartwarming at the same time.
The love overfloweth for Mister Leo.

And the roll itself:
